EOS is the crypto-currency for the EOSIO blockchain. It is developed by block.one.

The focuses is on high performance and scalability and it is free to use. You just need to own enough of the EOS coins related to the amount of resources needed by their application/contract.

The purpose is to accommodate smart contracts and distributed applications.

Delegated Proof of Stake is the consensus algorithm. Validations is done by only 21 nodes.
